Can I get a membership right now?
LIAC is accepting membership applications as of January 1st, 2024 on a first come, first served basis. You can buy a membership by filling out the forms on our website, under the forms dropdown menu and mailing them to the pool address (5495 South River Dr.) with payment of cash, cheque or money order. We are now accepting credit as a form of payment, please see credit card authorization form.
How do I know if my application was accepted through the mail?
Memberships and lessons are confirmed if payment shows as paid in your account. If your cheque was cashed, your application was received and accepted. All Receipts are available in person at LIAC when the pool opens for the season.
What is a "Family" membership?
Family is defined as immediate dependent family only, living full-time at the address on the application. Children by birth or legal adoption only. A dependent is a person under 21 or a full-time student 25 yrs. of age or under, or as outlined by the income tax act. Proof of full-time student status is required.
What is an "Extended Family" addition to a membership?
Extended family are defined as living full-time at the residence on the application. This also includes full-time live-in caregivers and C.A.S foster children. Extended family are to be identified separately on the application, and must pay an additional $185.00 per person for seasonal membership. Extended family does not include immediate family, such as spouse or children by birth or legal adoption. Proof of residence required.
What is a "Caregiver Pass"?
This pass is offered to family membership holders only, and may be used to accommodate family situations where a non-resident caregiver is supervising member’s children. The pass costs $185.00 for the season and will permit 50 admissions to the pool. It is issued to the family and can only be used by the babysitter when he/she takes the member children to the pool. Limit of one per family membership per year.
What proof do I need to show I am a member?
LIAC provides each member with a membership card at the beginning of the year in order to access the pool. Cards from previous years are no longer valid. Members must always have their cards on them in order to enter the pool area.
If I am not swimming, do I have to pay to enter the facility?
Yes. All patrons must pay the fee whether they are swimming or not. Payment is for entrance to the facility, not the pool.
If my child can only attend 1 week of lessons in a session, can I split the lessons over 2 sessions?
No. Lessons are progressive and maintaining continuity with the instructor and the class is important. There are also other children who are able to attend a full set of lessons and it is unfair to give these spots away to those who cannot attend the full session.
Do lessons still run if it is raining or cold?
Lessons will run rain or shine. In the event that lightning or thunder occurs, everyone must get out of the pool. The pool will remain closed until 30 minutes past the last visible lightning strike or last heard episode of thunder.
Does LIAC accept debit or credit?
Yes, we are now able to accept debit and credit for canteen items, guest passes and daily admission! Credit is available for applications sent by mail by completing the additional credit card authorization form.
Does the pool close to members or daily admission due to weather?
The pool is open rain or shine during our posted hours with exception to thunder storms and cold weather. Every patron is required to leave the water for 30 minutes after the most recent incident of thunder or lighting. On days with temperatures below 17 degrees Celsius, the pool may close early. Always feel free to give LIAC a call before visiting if you are unsure if you can swim!
I am not sure what level I should register my child in for lessons, how do I find out?
LIAC is happy to offer swim assessments in order to determine a child's level. Swim assessments will take place from 5pm-6:30pm daily as the weather permits. Assessments are $5 for children who are registering in our programs. For swimmers not registering with LIAC, there is a $10 fee. Please schedule your assessment in advance by calling or sending us an email.
